Statement of Significance:
I drew this house because it was built by my great-great grandpa.  My great grandpa lived in this house when he was growing up.

Statement of Significance:

My poster is the Kenaston Water Tower.  It was built in 1910. Last summer my Dad was helping the town to fix it up.  They were putting new shingles on it.  They want it to be a museum.

INTERMEDIATE CATEGORY: GRADES 6-8

Statement of Significance:
My poster is of the original grain elevators and the water tower in Kenaston, Saskatchewan.  The first elevator was built in 1916.  It was rebuilt in 1958 and 1959.  In 1963, a crib annex was added for more storage space.

The water tower was built in 1910.  Ten to twelve trains a day used to stop in Kenaston to fill up with water.  The village of Kenaston is fixing up the old water tower to make it into a museum.

THEME CATEGORY: ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Statement of Significance:
The Saskatchewan Government House is located in Regina, Saskatchewan.  The building was first constructed in 1883 as a temporary, portable, wooden house for the Lieutenant Governor of the North-West Territories.  It only had four bedrooms, a small kitchen, a few other rooms, and a porch.  The building was designed by the staff of [the] Department of Public Works in Ottawa.  As the years went by more additions were made to the building to make it more luxurious.  It was also used for different purposes such as an adult education centre, a home for veterans returning from World War II and now it is a tourist attraction and educational public facility.

I think that this building is important because of its use as an office and residence for the Lieutenant Governor.  The building was also advanced for its time, having running water, a telephone system, and it was heated by coils and a furnace.  The Saskatchewan Government House also has heritage value in its design.  It was constructed with different architectural styles such as Gothic and Italianate.  It also contributes to the economic development of Saskatchewan.
