Statement of Significance:

This church was built by the Polish Pioneers of the Wishart district in 1908.  The church was named Our Lady of Perpetual Help.  A bigger church was built when more people came, and now just the little church is standing at the cemetery.  The bigger church is in the town.  My great grandma and grandpa are buried there.

Statement of Significance:

Now designated as a heritage site, this Ukrainian church was built in 1940 to replace the first church that was built by the Ukrainian settlers of the Krasne district.  There is beautiful artwork on the interior walls and ceiling.  The Wishart drama group that I am part of helped the people of the church with a fundraiser to restore the roof so that the artwork would not be ruined.  The name of the church is St. John Bohoslow Church and it is located west of Wishart.

Statement of Significance:

In April of 1984, McLean's skyline would change forever when the Pool elevator was torn down.  For almost one hundred years that elevator had sat on that same site.  The whole town came to watch the landmark come down and turn into little splinters of wood and dust.  Usually after a demolition, people cheer, but the McLean elevator was different.  The crowd was very quiet, and sober.  No one cheered as they contemplated the changes coming to McLean.
