Did You Know?

Visitors to Saskatchewan parks will save about $375,000 annually with the elimination of campfire permit fees.  The $3-per-day fee was introduced in provincial parks in 2003 and removed as of April 1, 2008.

Creative Industries

The Government of Saskatchewan supports the creative industries in partnership with the Saskatchewan Arts Board.  As a result of this partnership, annual funding responsibility for five organizations responsible for the growth of the creative industries has been transferred from SaskCulture Inc. to the Saskatchewan Arts Board.  The Saskatchewan Arts Board is working with these organizations to improve planning and business readiness in each creative industry sector:

SaskMusic
Saskatchewan Motion Picture Association
Saskatchewan Publishers Group
Saskatchewan Craft Council
Canadian Artists' Representation/Le front des artistes canadiens (CARFAC)

From 1999 to 2007, the Government of Saskatchewan supported the cultural industries through the Cultural Industries Development Fund (CIDF).  Government did not renew the fund in 2008, but has partnered with the Saskatchewan Arts Board to ensure that adequate support for the creative industries continues.
