Saskatchewan Parks - Good Spirit Lake

Good Spirit Lake Provincial ParkSquish the sand between your toes as you and the kids stroll out far from shore at the main beach.  Or, grab your hats and amble down the shoreline trail to the sand dunes, where wind, weather and time have created an intriguing backdrop to a beach peach perfect for private sunbathing.

There's an 18-hole mini-golf facility, a summertime food concession, tennis courts and superb beach volleyball courts that have hosted the provincial playoffs.  Rental accommodations, an 18-hole, grass-green golf course with restaurant, as well as groceries, gas and liquor are all located less than 2 km from the park boundary.

The Trans Canada Trail and a self-interpretive sand dunes trail are two of many park paths offering hikers and cyclists - and cross-country skiers, in wintertime - an opportunity to exercise and explore.  Watch for fox, coyote, deer and rabbit in the dunes area, and moose and elk elsewhere.  Grosbeaks, waxwings, sharp-tailed grouse and numerous water birds are common sights in the park, as well.

Experience what Maclean's Magazine says is one of the Top 10 beaches in Canada.  Wake up your senses at Good Spirit Lake Provincial Park!

Seasonal Camping

Good Spirit offers seasonal camping spots.  The sites are distributed through a lottery system.  The application and rules are available here.  The deadline to apply is Tuesday, February 16, 2010. The lottery will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2010. The public is welcome to attend the draw. Contact the park for the time and location.

Group Camping

Group camping is available at two locations in the park and is popular for family reunions or other group gatherings.  One group site is electrified and four sites are non-electric.  The group camping program is very popular.  It is advisable to book as far in advance as possible to avoid disappointment.

Details and bookings can be arranged through the administration office(306)792-4750 or entry gate/campground office (306)792-2110.

In-Park Services

There are limited fast food and convenience services in the park; however, just one mile south of the park, Good Spirit Market can provide you with groceries, gas, propane, wine, liquor, beer and the finest fudge.  The communities of Canora and Yorkton offer all necessary services and amenities.

Nearby Attractions

The area around Good Spirit Lake is a wealth of attractions including golfing, historic sites, museums and more.

City of Yorkton – Yorkton located less then a half hour drive from the park is home to the Western Development Museum – Story of People, which re-creates the times and styles of western Canadian immigrants.  Yorkton also features the Gallagher Centre Water Park which includes a wave pool, whirl pool, lazy river and a waterslide.
