Every Saskatchewan community has places that connect people to their past.  These historic places are important for their association with past people and events, for their aesthetic qualities, or for their cultural and spiritual meaning.  They evoke pride, nostalgia, and a sense of identity.  They are also important in the growth and development of the community.

Local governments play a key role in the protection and promotion of these historic places.  To learn more about the heritage activities that Saskatchewan's municipalities are involved in, and to understand the challenges they face, the Ministry of Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport sent a questionnaire to all municipal offices in the province.  The data collected from the study has been compiled in a report.  Historic Places in Saskatchewan Municipalities: Summary of Results is now available for you to view.
