There are nine Sport, Culture and Recreation (SCR) Districts in Saskatchewan. Each District is a non-profit organization governed by a volunteer board of directors. The mandate of the District organizations is to facilitate community development and coordinate District networks with the aim of enhancing access to sport, culture and recreation programs and services in the province.

District staff help communities assess their needs and provide services and information to help them access a wide range of the sport, culture and recreation programs and services that can enhance quality of life and community vitality through increased participation.

The SCR Districts are supported through funding from the Saskatchewan Lotteries Trust Fund for Sport, Culture and Recreation.

Quality of Life Study

The Community Initiative Fund commissioned Insightrix Research, Inc. to study Saskatchewan residents' perceptions of access to, and use of, programs and services in their communities and to assess their perceptions of their community and personal quality of life.  Over 4,000 residents completed the survey from May to August 2009.  Click on the following link to view the overall provincial report: Living in Saskatchewan Communities: A Quality of Life Study.

District Results

TPCS commissioned Insightrix Research, Inc. to develop slide-formatted reports that present the results of the quality of life study for each of the nine SCR Districts and for the overall provincial results. The slide reports will enable local community groups and other stakeholders in each District to identify needs that are unique to their District.  Use the links below to view the results for each District.

A user guide was also developed to assist individuals in using the slide reports. The user guide describes ways that stakeholders can use the information in the slide reports, provides considerations for comparing the District results to the overall provincial results, highlights the contents of the slide reports, and provides background on how the data was collected.
