Education and Interpretation School ProgramsInformation for TeachersThe following information is intended for Teachers wishing to provide a memorable experiential learning opportunity for their students that will connect with Saskatchewan curriculum content. Saskatchewan provincial parks are a comprehensive network of diverse recreational and protected, natural and cultural areas. Our parks provide a variety of opportunities for the well-being, inspiration, appreciation and benefits of all peoples. Sound economic principles and environmental stewardship are the foundations for managing our parks cooperatively. Sixteen provincial parks offer education programs, primarily during the months of May and June, (the time frame varies from park to park). Our programs are designed to connect with the Saskatchewan Learning School Curriculum while interpreting the unique natural and cultural features of each park. Each provincial park has its own unique features and history and offers its very own package of education programs. The unit of study that is most connected to the programs within each park are clearly identified, providing teachers with the ability to plan their curricula around their park experience in order to enable strong learning connections to occur. In some locations, pre- and post-lesson plans are available to assist with preparing students for their outdoor learning experience. The provincial park education programs are lead by experienced, highly motivated seasonal and full-time park interpreters. The backgrounds and strengths of the park interpreters vary, but one thing that they all have in common is the love for working with people and the desire to inspire a sense of stewardship within visitors towards the natural or cultural resources within every park. Saskatchewan provincial parks are fortunate to have these dedicated individuals as the voices for our protected areas. For more information on the locations hosting education programs and the programs that each provincial park offers, take a journey with us through the Saskatchewan provincial parks and decide where your student's experience will take place.
