Vacationing Things To DoSaskatchewan's provincial parks are great places to get away from crowds, traffic and the stresses of everyday life. Our provincial parks are a natural wonder of plants, birds and animals, where you can have room to breathe as deeply as you need to. Relax with a hike on one of our many interpretive trails. Our beautiful lakes are perfect for swimming, boating, fishing and sailing. Or, immerse yourself in the wilderness solitude of a northern forest or get some exercise on a golf course or a cross-country ski trail. You can enjoy the finest outdoor recreation all year around. Saskatchewan provincial parks offer a variety of trails for hiking and interpretive walks for your enjoyment. These vary from family-friendly paths to more rugged hikes featuring razorbacks and steep inclines. Maps and brochures of the trails are available at the campground and park offices or as links on the individual park pages. Click here for a list of parks with trails to offer. Will it be swimming, water-skiing, boating, wind surfing, fishing or just relaxing on a beach? The options for you to enjoy one of the many wet, wild and wonderful lakes and pools are endless. Saskatchewan provincial parks offer a wide array of water-based recreation, from fishing in the pristine waters of northern Saskatchewan to wakeboarding along Lake Diefenbaker. As well, Cypress Hills, Pike Lake and Buffalo Pound provincial parks have public-use pools that also offer swimming lessons. Click here for a list of parks featuring water-based recreation activities. Looking for areas set aside and designated as ATV trails? Moose Mountain and Narrow Hills Provincial Parks offer designated and authorized ATV trails with traffic signs and devices. While some park visitors would like to use their ATVs on other provincial park lands, uncontrolled ATV use can cause serious environmental damage such as soil erosion and compaction and damage to vegetation. They can also open up previously inaccessible park areas and create unwanted trails. ATVs, because of their speed and noise, can frighten wildlife. Remember - this is their home, too. Turn back the clock with a stroll through time at one of Saskatchewan's Historic Parks. From skiing to snowmobiling, Saskatchewan provincial parks are great, year-round destinations. Five of our parks are open year-round and offer resort accommodation and the best in winter recreation, including groomed snowmobile and cross-country ski trails.
