Fishing Lakes and Ponds are common features of Duck Mountain's Landscape. They provide vital habitat for a great diversity of wildlife, both in and out of water. Madge Lake is by far the largest body of water in the park. It's thriving population of perch, northern pike, and walleye make for great fishing year round.
Boat Launch Six Boat Launches are available in the park. Pickerel Point Boat Launch is located in the Pickerel Point Campground. Jubilee, Benito, boat launches are both located in the subdivision. The Marina Boat Launch is located between Midway and Kamsack Subdivision. Ranger's Bay Boat Launch is located near the channel between Madge Lake and Ranger's Bay. The launch can be accessed from Kamsack Subdivision. Batka Lake boat launch is located at Batka Lake near the camp kitchen. BicyclingThis trail starts at the Recreation Hall and takes you on a three-mile paved trail to Pickerel Point Campground. The winding trail takes you through a mature forest of the many different kinds of trees, and shrubs that we have in the park. A wide variety of wildlife can be seen along the way, so make sure to bring your camera and binoculars. This trail is a favourite for bird watchers. Park visitors also hike this trail so take extra care when biking. GolfingMadge Lake Golf Resort is a grass green 18-hole golf course, complete with cart and club rentals. It offers a licensed clubhouse and is located along highway #57 in the heart of Duck Mountain Provincial Park. This challenging course is surrounded by a mature forest of spruce, poplar and birch. Tennis courts![]() Horse Back RidingMadge Lake Riding Stables offer Lessons with experienced instructors as well as hourly guided trail rides. Madge Lake Riding Stables has three- and four-hour rides to Green Lake or, for something a bit longer, overnights are also attractive options for busy people who want to get back to the basics. School groups are welcome to try something new and exciting! Horseback riding will offer the students a memorable experience that they will cherish for years. This is a great way to do some out of classroom learning! Beginners and Experienced riders are always welcome. Experience Saskatchewan's Old Forest and variety of wildlife along the trails. Phone: (306) 542-3439. Nature/Hiking TrailsCovered in lush forests, Duck Mountain stands out from the surrounding landscapes. Out of place on the prairie, the park is actually on the southern edge of Saskatchewan's boreal forest region. Temperature, Precipitation and seasons on Duck Mountain upland are similar to conditions found further north. Mountain maple and nodding trillium are found in the park although they are found typically to the South and East. Duck Mountain is home to elk, Whitetail deer, moose, wolves, bear, beaver, marten and red squirrel. More than 180 bird species make use of the park, as well as a vast number of insects, including 90 different kinds of butterflies! Nine species of fish are found in the lakes, four species of amphibians rely on the wetlands, and two kinds of reptiles live in the area. Boreal Forest Nature Trail: This scenic one km trail winds its way through old growth spruce, balsam fir stands, old growth aspen and birch stands. The boardwalk takes you through a marsh bog and offers a resting spot and a breathtaking view of the lake. This self-guided barrier free trail located within the campground gives you a chance to enjoy the diversity of nature and relax. As you stroll down the boardwalk you will wind through a marsh bog to a breathtaking view of the lake and Spruce Island. From there you will continue through birch stands, old forest growth and fern meadows. Let the beauty of this trail help to wash away the stresses of the day. Woodland Nature Trail: Offering a very scenic tour for bikers and hikers, this 2 km trail runs between the campground and the Ministik beach core area. This is a great trail for bird watchers and enthusiasts of both flora and fauna with some spectacular views of the lake along the way. Pelly Point Trail: A beautiful 4.4-km trail takes you through some of the parks most beautiful and varied scenery. Pelly Point will take you through some of the most beautiful ecosystems in the park including old growth balsam fir, large aspen with maple understory and fern meadows. This hike takes approximately three hours to walk and offers a challenging wilderness hike for the serious nature enthusiast. Don't worry, though, there are washrooms and a rest point halfway down the trail. Trans Canada Trail: The southern link of the Trans Canada Trail arrives in Saskatchewan from Manitoba through Duck Mountain Provincial Park. This trail winds its way across the entire park providing trail goers with a off the beaten path view of the park. Cross-country Ski Trails: Six unique trail shelters located strategically along the trails not only offer safety and shelter, but also allow you a glimpse into the beauty of nature. Feed the birds, cook your lunch on the woodstove, or sit back, rest and discover a whole new winter wonderland. Toboggan Hill: The toboggan hill is located in the same area as the skating rink and they share the same warm-up shelter. This is tons of winter fun for kids big and small and great exercise for the parents pulling the sleigh back up the hill. Please remember that Snowmobiles are not allowed on this hill.
